About us:

My name is Rick. I have been interested in model railroading since I was a boy. My grandpa worked for Union Pacific causing my love of trains. I guess you could say railroading was in my blood.

Once I started getting serious about my model railroading, I needed detailed parts and scenery to add to my layout, but the items I was looking for weren't always available, so I looked into creating my own detailed parts and scenery. 

Eventually I started entering monthly contests through my division. Soon after, I started having division members (Division 8 of the Mid Central Region), ask where I was getting some of my items. I told them I started making my own. After a lot of encouragement from family, friends, & division members to offer my items at train shows, I took the leap of faith and set up at my first show. November of 2021 R & J Details was born.

Customers were buying at the shows but wanted to know if I had an online store where they could purchase my items anytime, so as of June 2023 rjdetail.com was created by my youngest son. We are proud to say you may order from our online store 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have multiple payment options.

We truly are a mom and pop store. I (Rick) print the items with my 3-D printers, package and send all the items once payment has been received. My wife Jeannie, (the J of R & J) does the invoicing, cataloging, and is always willing to share creative suggestions for the business. Our youngest son Chris, as stated earlier, created the web site, but also updates the site and will be training Jeannie to help out with keeping the site updated as well. Our oldest son, Drew, has provided us with 4 very helpful grandsons, Gabe, Ezra, Coen, & Ian. You will usually see one of them with me, helping out at most of the train shows I attend.

And to end on a very exciting note, as of November 2023, we have partnered with NMRA.

It is our hope that in some small way, we may be able to help you enjoy your own personal train setup, with quality detailed model railroad items and scenery.
